Following the successful commercial launch of DTV+, Brazil’s next-generation television system, during the Football World Cup 2026, Brazilian broadcasters are accelerating the nationwide rollout of the new broadcast platform. To support the industry’s transition toward remote and cloud-native production and distribution, Fraunhofer IIS and its industry partners will showcase a first fully cloud-based, DTV+-compliant workflow at SET Expo 2026 in São Paulo from August 17 to 20. The end-to-end demonstration features MPEG-H Audio contribution into the cloud, full metadata authoring and rendering, 4K/HDR video encoding using VVC/H.266 enhanced with LCEVC (MPEG-5 Part 2), and MPEG DASH streaming, demonstrating a scalable, interoperable, and cloud-native workflow for next-generation broadcasting.

Building on the cloud-native MPEG-H Audio production workflow for “Low-latency streaming and personalized audio for live Sports” unveiled at NAB Show 2026, this demonstration extends the architecture into the industry’s first full feature cloud-based, DTV+-compliant end-to-end workflow. The showcase illustrates how broadcasters can leverage cloud infrastructure to simplify deployment, increase operational flexibility, and deliver immersive, personalized audio experiences to viewers.
The SET Expo demonstration brings together AWS, Fraunhofer IIS, Jünger Audio, MainConcept, MediaKind, and Techex to showcase an interoperable, cloud-based workflow spanning the entire DTV+ service chain — from content production and advanced audio processing to metadata authoring, monitoring, encoding, and distribution. The demonstration features two independent encoding solutions: the MainConcept Live Encoder, which receives fully authored MPEG-H content in MPEG-H Contribution Mode and encodes it for DTV+ delivery, and MediaKind VOS360, which supports two ingest paths — a file-based workflow for fully authored MPEG-H programs and a live ingest path with automatic fallback to conventional channel-based encoding when MPEG-H metadata is not available.
The live demonstration will be showcased throughout SET Expo across the participating partners’ booths: Amazon Web Services (30B), MediaKind (at the SDBM Media booth: 42A), and Fraunhofer IIS (42B). Attendees will gain firsthand insight into how cloud-native technologies and open, interoperable solutions can accelerate the deployment of next-generation television services in Brazil.
This showcase marks another important milestone in the industry’s transition toward software-defined broadcast workflows and highlights the role of MPEG-H Audio as a foundational technology for DTV+.
